Most likely cause

The overlay has lost its anchor to the surface, so the line no longer sits where you scanned it. This is a tracking issue, not a reading issue.

Check this first

Tap Set Ball or Set Hole to reposition the point that has moved. You do not need to start over.

If that isn't it

• The light changed. Low light, hard shadows or a shift from sun to overcast give the phone less to track. Scan again in the light you are putting in.
• You moved too quickly during the scan. A steady walk gives the app more surface than a fast one.
• The surface has too little texture. Uniform, freshly cut greens offer fewer reference points. Include a little more around the edges of the putt.

What this is not

Drift does not mean the read was wrong. The break the app calculated stays valid, it has simply been drawn in the wrong place. Repositioning restores it.
